2009 NCAA Men's Soccer Bracket
NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Saint Louis and Charlotte will represent the Atlantic 10 Conference in the 2009 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. This is the fourth year in a row that the A-10 has earned multiple bids.
Saint Louis will host Missouri State at Robert R. Hermann Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m., and the 49ers will host UNC-Wilmington on Thursday at Transamerica Field at 7p.m.
This is the Billikens' fourth straight and 46th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament while Charlotte is making its first appearance in the tournament since 1997 and sixth in program history.
Saint Louis (14-6-0) earned an automatic bid in the 48-team field after capturing the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Nov. 15. The winner of the Missouri State/Saint Louis matchup travels to Tulsa, Okla., on Sunday, Nov. 22, to face No. 8-seed Tulsa (13-4-2) in second-round action.
The 49ers, who finished the season with an 11-3-5 record, had a program best 13-game unbeaten streak during the regular season with a record of 9-0-4 over that span including wins over NCAA Tournament participants; Wake Forest, Winthrop and Saint Louis. The winner of the UNCW-Charlotte matchup will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. and face Wake Forest in the second round.
