Marilyn Stephens is Temple's all-time leading scorer and was the program's first All-American.
Stephens, a 1995 inductee into the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame, scored 2,194 points in her four-year career. Stephens was a First Team Kodak All-American in 1984, and was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in both 1983 and 1984. With 1,519 rebounds, Stephens also sits atop the program's all-time career rebounds list. She led Temple to a fifth-place finish in the WNIT in 1982, and to a seventh-place finish in the WNIT in 1983. Stephens was a two-time A-10 First Team selection, a two-time Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Year, and a four-time Philadelphia Big 5 First Team honoree. Along with her scoring and rebounding records, Stephens also holds the top spot in program history in blocked shots (342), blocks per game (2.9), field goals (919) and free throws (356). Stephens has remained active in basketball since graduating from Temple in 1984, and is currently in her fifth season as the head coach of the Cheyney University women's basketball team. |
