Dayton Cruises into A-10 Semifinals With a 74-49 Victory over George Washington

Philadelphia, PA - Andrea Hoover scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds as top seeded No. 11/11 Dayton topped eighth-seeded George Washington, 73-60, in quarterfinal action of the 2013 Buick Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.

With the win, the Flyers improve to 27-1 overall and will advance to Sunday's semifinal and will take on fourth seed Saint Joseph's at 1:30 p.m.   George Washington drops to 14-16 on the season.

Hoover was joined in double-digits by Kelly Austria who had 13 and Samantha MacKay who finished with 12.   UD held George Washington to just 32.2% shooting for the game and forced 23 turnovers.  The Flyer defense also had a season-high 11 blocked shots, which is second all-time in A-10 Championship history (only behind West Virginia's 13 set in 1985 against UMass).

George Washington was in striking distance for most of the first-half before a 15-2 run by Dayton over the course of the final 6:07 sent the teams to the locker room with the Flyers leading 43-21.Dayton would maintain a 20 point lead for the remainder of the game as it cruised into the semifinals. 

George Washington was led by 12 points from Tara Booker and 11 points from Shi-Heria Shipp.  Booker also had eight rebounds for the Colonials, while Sara Mostafa grabbed seven boards in the loss.
