#10 Temple Upends #2 Charlotte 48-47 to Advance to A-10 Semis

Philadelphia, PA - Tenth-seeded Temple pulled off its second consecutive upset as it topped second-seeded Charlotte, 48-47, in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 Buick Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.  

Temple improves to 14-17 overall and advances to Sunday's second seminal and will face either Saint Louis or Fordham at 4:00.  Both A-10 Semifinals will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.  Charlotte drops to 24-5 on the year and has its school record 13 game winning streak snapped in the process.

Temple was led by Rateska Brown who had a game-high 23 points off the bench for the Owls.   Tyonna Williams added 14 points, while Natasha Thames and Victoria Macaulay each had 11 rebounds for Temple in the win. 

Charlotte got a team-best 15 points from Jai Forney, while Amanda Dowe had 14 points to go along with a game-high 15 rebounds.  

The game was tight throughout with the largest lead for either team reaching just seven points. 

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half with Temple holding a slim 22-20 lead at the break. 

With the score tied at 31-31 with 10:17 to play, the Owls went on a 9-2 run and took a 40-33 advantage when Brown drained a three-pointer with less than eight minutes to play in the game.

Charlotte battled back and tied the game 43-43 when Hillary Sigmon knocked down a three-pointer with 1:34 remaining.

Temple came back on its ensuing possession and took the lead for good when Williams hit a three-pointer with 1:12 to go.
