Michigan 62, Xavier 53
The Xavier Musketeers women's basketball team suffer its first loss of the season, losing 62-53 to the Michigan Wolverines at Cintas Center Monday night. Freshman Jenna Crittendon had a career-high 13 points and two assists in the defeat. Xavier falls to 1-1 for the season as the Wolverines remain undefeated at 2-0. Michigan now leads the all-time series 4-2.

St. Bonaventure 51, Niagara 49
Trailing by five at halftime, the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team used a 12-0 run in the middle of the second half to grab the lead away from the Purple Eagles and they never looked back. The Bonnies struggled mightily in the first half shooting the ball. As a team they shot just 24 percent (6-25) from the floor and 8-14 from the free throw line. As a team they went 8-8 from the charity stripe Saturday afternoon in their season opener. Doris Ortega led the scoring in the first half for SBU with six despite going 1-8 from the floor. She knocked down 4-6 from the line and grabbed five boards.

Elon 74, VCU 58
Elon overcame a 12-point first half deficit and used a 29-5 outburst spanning nearly 14 minutes to hand VCU a 74-58 setback Monday night in its season opener. Freshman Jessica Pellechio led the Rams with a team-best 18 points in her collegiate debut, while senior Carleeda Green added 13 points and a team-high five assists.

Miami 69, Richmond 63
Richmond (1-1) got the game to within three with under a minute to play, but fell short to No. 24 Miami (2-0), 69-63, Monday night. The pesky Spiders pieced together a mighty second-halfcomeback after finding themselves down 49-34 with 15:22 remaining in the game. The Hurricanes opened the second frame with 13 unanswered points and looked to put the game away early in the last half.
