PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- A four-goal second half effort propelled the University of Richmond past La Salle, 4-0, and into the 2011 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship finals.

The score was tied 0-0 at the half thanks to an outstanding defensive effort by La Salle goalie Lisa Shaffer who had five saves on the day. The Spiders attack netted its first goal in the 38th minute when sophomore Chelsea Davies sent an unassisted blast into the lower corner of the net, recording her first of two goals in the game.

"It's a brand new season for everyone and everyone wants to get to that final game," said Richmond head coach Gina Lucido. "We saw a great effort from La Salle and had to have faith that if we kept attacking the goals would come."

Richmond's Rookie of the Year Rebecca Barry recorded the second goal of the game off a corner, followed by Davies' second, with the fourth goal netted by Emily Straniero at 67:26.

Richmond will face the winner of the Massachusetts vs. Temple semifinal game on Saturday at 2pm.
