Richmond, VA - No. 17 Richmond (17-4) is making its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship and will face second-seeded Maryland in College Park, MD, in a first round match-up on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 am. The contest is a rematch of last year's first round game in which the Terps topped Richmond, 4-0, and advanced to win the National Championship.

Richmond captured the A-10 Championship title, advancing to the NCAA Play-In game where it defeated Lock Haven, 4-2, on Nov. 7, to earn a bid to the 2006 NCAA Championship.

Richmond is led by junior Shannon Taylor, the 2006 A-10 Offensive Player of the Year, who boasts a Conference-leading 30 goals and nine assists (60 points) to rank fourth nationally with 2.40 points per game. Freshman Lindsey Conrad, the 2006 A-10 Rookie of the Year, ranks second in the league and on the team with 19 goals and six assists for 44 points.

The Spiders are a combined 3-2 this season against the 15 other teams in the 2006 NCAA Tournament field. Richmond topped American (3-2), James Madison (2-1) and Princeton (4-3) during the 2006 regular season. The Spiders fell to Virginia (3-5) and Old Dominion (0-3).
