PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The field is now set for the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship to be held Friday and Sunday, April 25th and 27th, hosted by the University of Massachusetts at McGuirk Stadium in Amherst, Mass.

The semifinal games will be played on Friday with top-seeded Richmond facing #4 Massachusetts at 1:00 pm followed by #2 Temple versus #3 Duquesne at 3:30 pm. The Championship game will be played at 1:00 pm on Sunday.

The top four teams from regular season play qualified to participate in the Championship. The Atlantic 10 champion earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship.

Richmond (9-8/6-1) enters the Championship as the league's top seed after earning a share of its third-straight Atlantic 10 regular season title. The three-time defending A-10 Champions finished the regular season tied with Temple at 6-1 in league play but defeated the Owls, 11-10 in double overtime during the regular season to earn the No. 1 seed. The Spiders will face #4 Massachusetts (6-10/4-3) in the first semifinal contest. Richmond is looking for its fourth-straight title which would tie the A-10 record held by Temple for the most women's lacrosse titles. Massachusetts hopes to win its second A-10 Championship and first since 2000.

Temple earned a share of its league-leading eighth regular season title after tying with Richmond at 6-1 in the standings. The Owls won four straight A-10 Championship titles from 2001-04 and have made an appearance in every Championship since the postseason tournament began in 1999. Temple will face #3 Duquesne (8-8/5-2). The Dukes are looking for their first A-10 Championship title and are making their seventh appearance in the Championship.

The semifinal winners will meet in the Championship game at 1:00 pm (EST) on Sunday, April 27th.
 

 

Tickets are $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for children and $3.00 for A-10 students and will be sold at the entrance to McGuirk Stadium.
