2009 IWLCA All-Region Teams

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Seven women's lacrosse players from the Atlantic 10 Conference were named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region honorees.

Saint Joseph's posted four players to the Mideast Region teams with junior Jenna Martino earning first-team honors and senior Suzy Herlihy, senior Abby Renninger and junior Helene Tursi earning second-team accolades. Richmond senior Allison Furstenburg was named to the second-team in the South Region and Duquesne junior Meghan Frederick and senior Ashley Wood were second-team honorees representing the West/Mid-West Region.

These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American banquet on June 13, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

In choosing the student-athletes for this recognition, the IWLCA has strict nominating guidelines that must be adhered to by all member institutions. The 2009 All-Regional and All-American honorees have met both the nominating and selection criteria.

The IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) was founded on the principle of developing among intercollegiate coaches a deep sense of responsibility in teaching, promoting, and maintaining the growth and integrity of women's lacrosse.
