Atlantic 10 Announces 2011 Women's Rowing Academic All-Conference Team
May 2, 2011
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Rowing Academic All-Conference team was announced on Monday, May 2, recognizing 10 student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and during competition. Massachusetts' Samantha Schnoerr headlined this year's team as she was named the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors. The senior coxswain led the Minutewomen Varsity 8 squad to a third place finish at the A-10 Rowing Championships back on April 16. She was named to the 2011 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team while serving as team co-captain. A native of Norwalk, Conn., Schnoerr is a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and will graduate from UMass with a degree in Legal Studies. Schnoerr will attend Michigan State College of Law next year. Dayton led all schools with three student-athletes named to the 2011 academic team, while Massachusetts and Rhode Island each placed two members. Duquesne, George Washington and Saint Joseph's all had one student-athlete on this year's squad. Joining Schnoerr on this year's academic team are Dayton's Michelle Baeder, Katherine Bruening and Erin Quinn; Duquesne's Taylor Shannon; Anna Kaminski of George Washington; UMass' Emily Boucher; Rhode Island's Megan O'Brien and Jenessa Redfern; and Saint Joseph's Danielle Brady. Brady, Bruening and Redfern are all repeat honorees from a season ago, while Redfern becomes just the 10th student-athlete in league history to be named to the academic team three times. 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Rowing Academic All-Conference Team
