Kingston, R.I. - Dayton captured its seventh Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Championship crown, its second in as many years, topping Charlotte 4-3 in a double overtime thriller Sunday afternoon at the URI Complex.

In what became an offensive battle, the49ers (16-5) struck first, as Sam Huecker scored on a penalty kick at the 20:56 mark. Six minutes later, Dayton's Colleen Williams answered with her 17th goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.

The Flyers (18-3) took the lead three minutes later when Jerica DeWolfe settled a lob from Williams and chipped the ball into the far upper-90.

Charlotte's Oni Bernard tied the contest yet again at the 59:16 mark, only to have Dayton's Tori Oelschlager respond nine minutes later to give the Flyers their second lead of the afternoon. The lead would not last long as Bernard scored again, collecting a deflection with nine minutes left in regulation, tying the game 3-3 and taking the game to overtime for the third time in A-10 Championship final history.

The score remained tied after 100 minutes, sending the match into double-overtime. With penalty kicks looming, Dayton's Alexis Garcia settled a loose ball across the middle and with the keeper on the right, shot to the left and found the back of the net for the game-winner in the 105th minute. The goal marked her second golden goal of the tournament en route to being named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament.

Dayton keeper Lisa Rodgers finished with seven saves. William and Bernard each booked seven shots, four of which were on goal.

Both teams tallied five corner kicks. Charlotte held the advantage in shots, 20-17, but both teams finished with 10 shots on goal.

With the win, Dayton earns the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is set for Monday, November 8 between 4:30 - 5:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
