La Salle Women's Soccer Ranked No. 22 in Soccer America National Poll
Aug. 28, 2012 PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - La Salle women's soccer is ranked No. 22 in this week's Soccer America National Poll and No. 1 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll. This is the second consecutive week that the Explorers have earned the NSCAA Regional honor. "It's real nice for our ladies to receive the respect they deserve," said head coach Paul Royal. "However, at the same time our girls are staying focused on improving each day so that we're more prepared for our A-10 season." The Explorers, who were unranked in the Soccer America poll last week, defeated Iona in their home opener, 2-0, on Friday to improve to 2-0 on the season. Tied with La Salle in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll for the top spot is conference foe Dayton. Rhode Island comes in at No. 8 in the rankings, followed by cross-town rivals Saint Joseph's (No. 9). Last season, La Salle was ranked as high as No. 17 in the Soccer America poll and No. 25 in the NSCAA equivalent.
