Beam Named First-Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

Beam, who was a second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American last year, joins her sister Lindsey Ozimek and Nikki Czaplicki as 49ers women's soccer players who have earned multiple Academic All-American honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer's senior midfielder Hailey Beam was just named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American for the second consecutive year. Beam, who was a second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American last season, earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors this season.

Beam joins her older sister Lindsey Ozimek (2005-07) and Nikki Labuda Czaplicki (2006 and 2008) as the only student-athletes in 49ers women's soccer history to earn multiple Academic All-American honors. The 49ers women's soccer program has had nine Academic All-Americans since 2003.

Beam has a 3.80 GPA in Finance and Marketing. This year, she was named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District for the second straight year.

Last week, Beam was named to the third-team TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Season for the second consecutive year. The National Team of the Season is what TopDrawerSoccer.com calls their All-American teams.

Two weeks ago, Beam was named A-10 Midfielder and Student-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. Beam was also a first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection and an A-10 Academic All-Conference selection for the second time.

She finished the season second in the A-10 with 10 goals, 10 assists and 30 points. A month ago, she scored her 36th career goal which tied Courtney Cook (1994-97) for the school-record for career goals. She also passed Cook for the program's career record for points with 103. She scored two goals including the game-winner in the 49ers' 5-3 Atlantic 10 season opening win over Duquesne. She earned A-10 Player of the Week honors twice. Beam also earned TopDrawerSoccer.com and CollegeSoccer360.com National Team of the Week honors this season as well.
