Dayton's Beljan Selected as Academic All-America

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton senior defender Kathleen Beljan was named Third Team on the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Women's Soccer Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

She is also a Top 10 Finalist for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

Beljan became Dayton's first-ever NSCAA Women's Scholar All-American First Team selection in 2010. She picked up NSCAA Scholar All-East Region First Team honors in 2010. She is a three-time CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District selection, including First Team All-District 5 this year.

She is a 2009 and 2010 Academic All-Ohio First Team honoree and carries a 3.459 GPA in chemical engineering.

Beljan is a two-time co-captain of the three-time defending Atlantic 10 Tournament champion, University of Dayton women's soccer team. She has also led the Flyers to three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. She helped UD to a 19-4-0 record in 2011. During her four year career, the Flyers went 69-14-8 - their .802 winning percentage is the seventh best in the nation.

She is a three-time Atlantic 10 First Team selection and was named to the 2010 Hermann Trophy Watch List. She was the 2010 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and helped UD to 45 shutouts during her career.
