Dayton's Williams Becomes Three-Peat All-American
Dec. 5, 2012
NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced its 2012 NSCAA/Continental Tire Women’s NCAA Division I All-America Teams. University of Dayton senior Colleen Williams was named second team. She is the first Flyer women’s soccer player to be named an All-American in three consecutive seasons. In addition, Williams is one of four players on this year’s list to accomplish that feat. The others are: North Carolina’s Crystal Dunn, Boston College’s Kristen Mewis, and Florida State’s Tiffany McCarty. Williams, Dayton’s all-time leader in career points, goals and assists, is the most decorated player in the history of the program. She is a two-time Hermann Trophy candidate, a Senior CLASS Top 10 finalist, and three-time Atlantic 10 First Team selection. She was the 2009 A-10 Rookie of the Year, a two-time Offensive Player of the Year (2010 and 2012) and the 2011 Most Outstanding Player of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Williams was an NSCAA Third Team All-American as a sophomore, and has earned second team honors the past two seasons. She was also recently named a Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Women’s Soccer Second Team.
