Three A-10 Softball Players Named ECAC All-Stars

Cape Cod, MA - The Atlantic 10 Conference had three student-athletes named to the 2005 Division I ECAC All-Star team as announced by the league office. Senior Denise Denis and junior KJ Kelley of Massachusetts and junior Kate Davis of Fordham were all honored on the 12-player squad.

Kelley was a member of the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team and was also picked to the All-Tournament team. She ranked among the leaders in the A-10 with a .382 batting average, 52 hits, 12 doubles, 14 home runs, 42 RBI, 106 total bases, a .779 slugging percentage, 33 walks and a .517 on-base percentage. With a solo home run against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the NCAA Tournament, her 14th of the season, Kelley broke her own single-season home run record and holds the all-time UMass career home run record with 35 during her first three seasons. Last month, she was named the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coach's Association Player of the Year as well as a first-team All-Star. 

Denis is coming off the best year of her career and was also a member of the A-10 All-Conference team and the All-Tournament team. She ranked among the A-10 leaders with a .360 batting average, 32 runs scored, 49 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 43 RBI, 85 total bases, a .625 slugging percentage, 23 walks, a .473 on-base percentage and was also 8-for-10 in stolen base attempts. Denis also compiled an .879 fielding percentage, including a perfect 1.000 mark in league games.

Davis helped the Rams to their best season yet, recording a team record 38 wins, while also capturing their first Atlantic 10 regular season title. She finished the year among the top five in most of the major offensive categories in the Atlantic 10 - hits (58), average (.356), runs (41), doubles (14), home runs (14), RBI (43), and total bases (114). She tied for the league lead in home runs, while leading in total bases and her .356 batting average was second on the team and fourth in the Conference. She set the Atlantic 10 and Fordham single-season record for home runs and was a two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week. For her two year career, Davis has already set the Fordham career record for home runs (27) and RBI (78). Led by her selection as the 2005 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, she has also been selected to Atlantic 10 All-Conference team and the All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team.
