PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) recently announced its selection of Saint Louis coach Anne Kordes as the 2008 CVU.com National Coach of the Year.
In her fifth year in charge, Kordes led the Billikens to the A-10 title and then their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
Picking up a big win over Stanford early in the season, Stain Louis would go on to string together 21-straight victories during the season. Finishing 13-0 in the A-10, the Billikens were the first squad since 1997 to get through conference play unblemished.
Saint Louis captured the A-10 regular-season title outright, a first in team history, then would go on to win the conference tournament title.
In the first round of the NCAA tournament, Saint Louis downed Alabama A&M for its first-ever NCAA tournament victory. On the season, the Billikens finished 29-5 overall and 13-0 in the A-10. Kordes is 103-54 in her five years as head coach.
