DAYTON (20-2/9-0) remains the only team unbeaten in the A-10 after sweeping two Conference opponents at Charlotte on Oct. 23 and at George Washington on Oct. 25. R-Junior middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier (Garden City, Mich.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week after hitting 4.00 kills per game at a clip of .595. She had two errors in 37 attempts and 24 kills. At 20-2, it is the Flyers' eighth consecutive 20-win season. No. 24 SAINT LOUIS (15-6/8-1) defeated La Salle in three sets on Oct. 23 and topped Temple in four sets on Oct. 25. Junior outside hitter Megan Boken (Wheaton, Ill.) had a team-high 3.57 kills per set and added 2.85 digs per set. All but two of SLU's 15 wins this season has come via a sweep. Senior setter Whitney Roth (Louisville, Ky.) surpassed 5,000 career assists on the weekend. TEMPLE (10-8/6-3) picked up a sweep at Duquesne on Oct. 23 and fell 3-1 to #24 Saint Louis on Oct. 25. Senior outside hitter Yun Yi Zhang (Shanghai, China) averaged 5.14 kills per set on the weekend. Freshman libero Chelsea Tupuola (Torrence, Calif.) added 4.86 kills per set in the split. XAVIER (14-10/6-3) picked up a pair of sweeps on the week, including a 3-0 win at Charlotte on Oct. 25, but fell 3-2 at George Washington on Oct. 23. Freshman libero Stephanie Vorherr (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned a share of both the Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 5.82 digs per set. CHARLOTTE (14-11/5-4) did not win a match this week for the first tim all season, falling in three sets to three opponents, including Dayton and Xavier over the weekend. R-Junior outside hitter Kat Hicks (Kaneohe, Hawaii) led Charlotte with 17 kills in the three matches and added 10 blocks on the weekend, including four solos. GEORGE WASHINGTON (18-8/5-4) went 2-1 on the week, including a five-set win over Xavier on Oct. 23 and a 3-0 loss to Dayton on Oct. 25. It was the first time since 2003, a seven-match losing streak, that GW upset Xavier. Freshman libero Candace Silva-Martin (Fremont, Calif.) earned a share of both the Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 5.18 digs per set. FORDHAM (12-15/2-7) picked up a pair of non-conference wins and defeated Rhode Island 3-0 on Oct. 24 to go 3-0 on the week. Junior middle hitter Katie Wells (Newport Beach, Calif.) set a school record with a .778 hitting percentage in a four-set match against Rutgers. She averaged 2.9 kills per set and finished with a .549 hitting percentage for three matches. RHODE ISLAND (7-14/1-8) fell 3-0 at Fordham on Oct. 24 after defeated CCSU 3-1 on Oct. 21. URI is now 6-6 against non-conference opponents. Junior middle blocker Lauren McIntosh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) leads the team in hitting percentage with a .299 clip. LA SALLE (3-24/0-9) is looking for its first Conference win but fell in three sets each at #24 Saint Louis on Oct. 23 at at Duquesne on Oct. 25. The Explorers will next head to Charlotte on Oct. 30.
