NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Dayton junior Megan Campbell its Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week and Duquesne sophomore Patti Abshire the league's Defensive Player of the Week. Duquesne freshman Mary Henry earned Rookie of the Week honors. The league announced the three awards Monday for matches played Sept. 17-23.

Campbell led the No. 22 Flyers to a pair of wins to open up Atlantic 10 play as Dayton defeated Butler and Saint Louis last weekend.  The outside hitter from Versailles, Ohio, hit an outstanding .635 attack percentage, while averaging 3.86 kills per set.  Campbell totaled 16 kills on 22 attempts against Butler with two service aces, three blocks, and a .682 hitting percentage.  She followed that up with an 11-kill, .558 percentage performance against Saint Louis Saturday.

Abshire, a libero from New Berlin, Wisc., played a major role in helping Duquesne to a 3-0 week, with wins over Pitt, VCU and Charlotte. She averaged 5.2 digs per set, tallying a match-high 17 digs versus Pittsburgh in a non-conference 3-0 sweep. Abshire then recorded a match-high 24 digs in a 3-1 win over VCU, handing the Rams just their second loss of the season. She finished her week with a team-high 11 digs in a 3-0 win over Charlotte.

Henry won Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this week after also playing an integral part in Duquesne's 3-0 week. The setter from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., averaged 10.10 assists per set and 2.3 digs per set. She also was error-free in her limited number of attacks, recording a .615 hitting percentage on eight kills. The freshman also added six service aces, including three against Charlotte for a .6 average on the week.
