Hoover, Dillard Nab A-10 Women's Basketball Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Andrea Hoover has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 8-14, while Cierra Dillard of Massachusetts was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Hoover helped UD to a pair of victories for the week, extending the Flyers win streak to five games. A native of Bellbrook, Ohio, Hoover averaged 25.5 ppg. and 7.5 rpg. She scored 26 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists while shooting 6-of-14 from the floor, 5-of-11 from long range and 9-of-10 from the line in Dayton's 79-57 win over Toledo on Wednesday. Against Central Michigan on Saturday, Hoover scored 25 points, recorded nine rebounds, dished out a season-high six assists as she made 8-of-15 shots from the floor, including sinking 5-of-9 long-range attempts. For the week, Hoover posted a 5.5 assist/turnover ratio with a .418 field goal percentage, .500 three-point field goal percentage and an .813 free throw percentage.

Dillard scored 21 points, including 17 in the pivotal second half, when UMass defeated regional rival Holy Cross, 72-61 on Sunday. During the second half she shot 6-of-8 from the floor, grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists and earned two steals without a turnover while she played the entire frame. UMass entered the break down 30-29 but outscored Holy Cross after the half, 43-31, on the strength of Dillard's 17 points and 14 more from Kim Pierre-Louis.  The Rochester, N.Y. native had six points during an 8-1 run that turned a 42-39 advantage with 12:52 left to play into a 50-40 lead with 10:34 left to play, after which the Minutewomen never saw their margin dip below six points the rest of the way.

Dayton’s Jenna Burdette averaged 9.5 ppg., 4.5 apg. and 3.5 rpg. while posting a .583 field goal percentage, including shooting .800 from long range in two wins for UD … G'mrice Davis of Fordham scored a career-high and game-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field while grabbing a game-high nine rebounds in a win over Manhattan … George Washington’s Hannah Schaible posted her first double-double of the season and the fourth of her career against Georgetown on Tuesday in GW's lone game of the week. She scored a career-high 17 points and added 10 rebounds in the win … Kim Pierre-Louis of Massachusetts led all scorers with a career-high 27 points when UMass defeated Holy Cross, 72-61 on Sunday … In Rhode Island's lone game of the week, Megan Straumann scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in a 56-48 win over Boston University, while Charise Wilson scored 11 points, dished out seven assists, grabbed five rebounds and had three steals to lead Rhode Island to its sixth straight victory … Liz Brown's career-high 24 points led Richmond to a 79-72 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (6-4) Sunday afternoon.
